Because of this, and the fact that most of the out-of-staters are on the green runs or in lessons, we’d see NO ONE on the blue and black runs until the bottom. For the advanced runs, you can pretty much do any line of your choice: there are wonderful varieties of tree runs, steeps or non-steeps, bumps or no bumps, etc, all within lift-served bounds. The really great thing about Wolf Creek is the terrific terrain. As for the sunny hot temperatures in the upper 40s and mid-50s, the non-treed, south-facing slopes had the worst slush starting around 1:30PM, so we successfully avoided such conditions except once. Everyone was just milling about and standing in the way. The base area was crawling with people from TX and OK (seriously, they outnumber the Coloradans here). Sure enough, we arrived 10 minutes before 9AM and already were one of the last vehicles to be allowed to park in the main lot. ![]() I knew there'd be some downsides for this visit given a couple things: Spring Break crowds and too-warm conditions. No one was outside inside staff said "there should be 3 people" so we ended up picking out our own poles out of an extremely unorganized mess of tangled poles. Also, we were told to just go out side and someone would give us poles.
