![]() However, I did NOT like that at the bottom of the Treasure Stoke lift, with its 6 alternating lanes, no one directed the on-loading process except ONCE. I haven't heard anyone do this at any of the Vail Resorts, and I HATE it when people are allowed to pool around at the top. I also liked that at the top of Elma Lift, a staff member consistently yelled at skiers/riders to move away from the off-loading area. They didn't have both poles in one hand, etc). Staff and service: At the top of Raven Chair, I liked that an employee was sternly lecturing the off-loading skiers/riders if they weren't properly positioned (ex. I can see how WC would be amazing on a powder day. The trees to skier's right off the Alberta Lift in particular are not too tightly spaced yet not too wide to be enticing to beginner or intermediate skiers, and many times I felt as if I were the only person on the slopes. Because of this, and the fact that most of the out-of-staters are on the green runs or in lessons, we’d see NO ONE on the blue and black runs until the bottom. For the advanced runs, you can pretty much do any line of your choice: there are wonderful varieties of tree runs, steeps or non-steeps, bumps or no bumps, etc, all within lift-served bounds. The really great thing about Wolf Creek is the terrific terrain. As for the sunny hot temperatures in the upper 40s and mid-50s, the non-treed, south-facing slopes had the worst slush starting around 1:30PM, so we successfully avoided such conditions except once. Everyone was just milling about and standing in the way. The base area was crawling with people from TX and OK (seriously, they outnumber the Coloradans here). Sure enough, we arrived 10 minutes before 9AM and already were one of the last vehicles to be allowed to park in the main lot. ![]() I knew there'd be some downsides for this visit given a couple things: Spring Break crowds and too-warm conditions. The husband had never been, so we decided to toss it up from our typical Vail Resorts even though we’re passholders due to WC’s extremely affordable lift ticket prices ($63 at the time of this review). 5) LIFTS: all lifts were open! & they didn't check my ski pass every time we got on a lift. We're 4.5 hours away, so we stayed 2 nights in Pagosa Springs. 3) POWDER: lots of snow the week prior to our arrival, 4) EQUIPMENT RENTAL: each day u can leave ur skis/board/poles/ski boots (not board boots) at the rental place. Hmmm, let's see, it is March, spring break, & guess what-it's going to be busy-EVERY YEAR, how can u not plan on having enough staff? 4) SLOPES: the signage on each run needs to be more clear they are hard to read & need more of them. After waiting around for 40 minutes for a supervisor, they opened another class BUT the student to instructor ratio was 22:1-example-Breckenridge has an 8-10 ratio! What a waste of money! Of course their excuse was that they just didn't have enough staffing. ![]() Upon arrival at ticket office, we were told "sorry, we're booked". 3) LESSONS: First, u can't book on line second, prior to arriving I called for ski lessons for 2 of our first time skiers-was told no reservations needed. 2) LOCKER-there are not enough lockers to keep your personal belongings (neither in the equipment rental area nor the bathrooms) so we had to go back down to our car to lock our stuff up. No one was outside inside staff said "there should be 3 people" so we ended up picking out our own poles out of an extremely unorganized mess of tangled poles. Also, we were told to just go out side and someone would give us poles. They didn't take much time to fit us or explain the pros/cons of our equipment. ![]() C-O-N-S: 1) RENTAL EQUIPMENT-we rented our equipment at the ski area which we never do-we usually rent our equipment in town when visiting different ski areas & it was somewhat unprofessional. ![]()
